How long do I have to complete the course?

The course will take approximately 12 months 14 months to complete. Should there be any difficulty in completing the course within this time frame, you will be required to write a letter of request for extension stating the reason why you would like that extension.

You will be required to finish your final test within 6 months of your Advanced Seminar. If you don’t feel ready to test by this stage, you will be required to take a set number of private sessions to work on components to help you better prepare for your final test.

It is advisable to set yourself a plan. Calculate the hours you can realistically achieve per week. Set yourself a goal as to when you will test for your Basic, Intermediate and then advanced Pilates system.

How long do I have for each test?

Basic entry level: Your Basic Pilates mat test will take up to 30 mins and must include pre Pilates and modifications for the beginner client.
Your Basic apparatus / system test will take up to1hour. You will teach the full reformer basic repertoire with modifications where required and be asked to teach 1 to 2 exercises on the Cadillac, Wunda Chair, Electric Chair, Ladder Barrel and small barrel. You will be give ½ hour to complete your Anatomy written test/quiz.

Intermediate level: Your Intermediate Pilates mat test will take one hour and must include the magic circle and arm weights series. You will be required to teach a small group of Intermediate standard clients plus modifications if required.
Your Intermediate apparatus / system test will take 1 hour. You will teach the full Intermediate reformer and be asked to teach up to 3 exercises on the Cadillac, Wunda Chair, Electric Chair, Ladder Barrel, small barrel, Spine Corrector and Pedi Pole.
You will be given ½ hour to complete your Intermediate Anatomy written test/quiz. You will also be required to write an Intermediate program for a client with a specific Pathology, condition or goal.

Advanced level: Your Advanced Reformer mat test will take one hour. Your Advanced apparatus / system and mat class test will take 1.5 hour. You will teach the full Advanced reformer, mat class and be asked to teach up to 3 exercises on the Cadillac, Wunda Chair, Electric Chair, Ladder Barrel, small barrel, Spine Corrector and Pedi Pole.

You will be give ½ hour to complete your Advanced Anatomy written test/ quiz. You will also be required to write an Advanced program for a client with a specific Pathology, condition or goal.

How do I prepare fro my tests?

You will need to know your repertoire and fully understand the method. Experience in teaching is paramount. As soon as you have the work in your own body, start teaching. Teach as many friends and other apprentices as often as possible. This will help you to feel more confident and comfortable when if comes time to test. And of course it will help you develop as an instructor.

What is required for my written tests?

Your written test for the basic is made up of an anatomy quiz. You will be given titles of specific reading material which will pertain to the level of our test paper ie; basic, Intermediate or Advanced.

For your Intermediate and Advanced tests you will also be required to write a program for a client with pathology, specific condition or goal.

What is the passing score?

You must receive a score of 75% or over to pass both written and practical tests.

What are my options if I can’t take my exams at the Authentic Pilates host Studio?

If you are unable to be in a certifying studio for your tests then we will make arrangements for a supervisor in your area to oversee the written part of your exam.

For your practical test we will need to see you actually teaching the system so you will be required to send a video of yourself teaching a client, colleague or other instructor. (OR this can be done via Zoom as well if preferred).

The video should show you teaching the full repertoire on the mat and apparatus for the level you are undertaking at the time. For more information about distant learning and testing, please discuss this with your Teacher Trainer.

What happens if I don’t pass my test?

If you do not pass your test, (either practical or written) you will be given some time to improve the necessary areas. Your second test is at no charge however should you need to test a third time then this will incur a.

What does my fee include?

Course fees include all course seminars from Basic to Advanced, student Basic, Intermediate and Advanced manuals, practical and tutorial support.

What are the extra costs that are involved?

Private lessons and exams are not included in the cost of tuition. All exams must be passed to achieve certification. Should the student require a retest there will be a charge. If the final advanced test is not passed, up to 25 hours of apprenticeship shall be required before the exam is retaken.
